Make It Easier!

How can you make language more accessible for your deaf or hard of hearing child?

Think about it

What are some visual and auditory distractions in your child’s daily life?

How can you help eliminate those distractions?

What impact do visual and auditory distractions have on your baby’s learning?

Be clear when you communicate

Use a slower pace of talking/signing.

Use complete sentences that are grammatically correct.

Here is what you can do

  • Get close to your baby so they can hear and see your loving signs/words.
  • Get quiet by removing the auditory and visual distractions to make sure your baby can hear and see you.
  • Give little eyes and ears breaks because listening and looking can be tiring to little ones as they learn.
  • If your child is not learning and communicating at the same rate as other children, contact Babies Can’t Wait, Ga. PINES, your local school system for children over 3 years old, or Georgia Mobile Audiology for resources.
